Collisions

Open the TP02_03.xml file and choose "Configure the cable" in the pop-up menu of the network interface of st1. Do the same thing with st3.
Watch the following points:

The stations st1 and st2 are connected by a coaxial cable.
The stations st3 and st4 are connected by a cross-twisted pair cable.

Move to the Ethernet mode.
Choose the "real frame" simulation mode.
Check the "transmit demo" box.
Click on the "no traced node" button, and trace the nodes st1 and st2.
Launch a frame emission from st1, but do not click on "OK".
Launch a frame emission from st2, but do not click on "OK".

Collision

Click on the "OK" button of one of the two dialogues, and then, click quickly on the OK button of the other one.
Watch the following points:

The two frames collide.
When the network interfaces detect the collision, they wait a little time before re-emitting their frame.
A network interface waits for the cable to be free to re-emit the frame.

Carry out the same emission of two simultaneous frames, from the stations st3 and st4.
Watch: the two frames meet on the cable, triggering a switching of the network.
Carry out the same emission of two simultaneous frames with the TP02_01.xml network and the TP02_02.xml network; you will then be aware of an essential difference between a hub and a switch.
