Real frame simulation

In the types of simulation presented so far, the length of the frame's emission has never been taken into account, the frame "invades" the network, and its emission is not limited. However, in "real frame" mode, this length is taken into account. While a frame is emitted, it is possible to choose its size (short, normal or long frame).

This type of simulation illustrates the collision phenomenon, since it is possible to emit two frames simultaneously. In this case, the physical supports of emission and reception of the twisted pair cables are represented.

In order to simulate a collision, you have to:

  • Ask for a frame emission (pop-up menu of the transmitting interface, do not click on "ok").
  • Ask for a second frame emission (pop-up menu of the second transmitting interface).
  • Configure the two emissions (recipient component, frame's size).
  • Emit one of the two frames, then the other one, clicking on the "ok" button of the dialogues.

This type of simulation is also a way of showing the difference between a "one the fly" switch and a "store and forward" switch.
