Presentation

This mode describes the transfers of the Ethernet frames between the various components of the network.

In "Ethernet" mode, each point of connection is displayed in a color corresponding to its status (colors by default):

  • Orange: under operation, not connected.
  • Green: under operation, connected.
  • Red: error (incorrect cable between the two points of connection).
  • Rose: port either invalidated by "spanning tree", or blocked manually.
  • White or grey: the component is powered off.

It is possible to power off or power on a station, a router, a hub or a switch via its pop-up menu.

You can also use the pop-up menu of a switch to:

After editing the mac/vlan table, the known ports in the mac/port table that are concerned with the modifications are assigned to their new vlan in the port/vlan table.

When a switch does not manage spanning tree, you can bock (or unblock) one of its ports manually, via the pop-up menu of the port.

A balloon help is displayed on the switches (switch configuration) and on the network interfaces (MAC address) when the mouse browses over the component.
