General concepts

For the software, a network is a set of components (stations, hubs, switches, routers, cables, Internet). You can save a network on a disk, in a XML file. Thus, a network is a document of the simulator. You can manage the documents on a classical basis, using the "File" menu.

The "File" menu includes an option labelled "Save network diagram", which allows you to create an image file representing the diagram of the network. This image is also stored in the clipboard. The image can be different according to the active operating mode.

The creation of a network is carried out through the "network design" mode. The toolbar of this mode is made up of seven elements:

From left to right:

"Arrow" tool: used to select the network's components (stations, hubs, switches, routers, Internet), in order to either move them or remove them. You can access the multiple selection with the mouse, by framing the components, or through the traditional sequence "click, ctrl-click...".
"Cable" tool: it can create a cable between 2 points of connection (network interface of stations or routers, ports of hubs or switches).
"Station", "Hub", "Switch" and "Router" tools: used to create a workstation, a hub, a switch and a router respectively.
"Internet" tool: used to create a component (and only one) which represents the Internet network.
